The Importance of the Indigenous Population of America
Jacqueline Left Hand Bull Delahunt (Sicangu Lakota) descends from four grandparents who were members of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. She grew up in South Dakota and Montana, and earned a bachelor’s degree from, and later taught at, The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. She served two terms as Secretary of the National Board of the YWCA of the USA, which has as its imperative "the elimination of racism, wherever it exists and by any means necessary."
Jacqueline enrolled in the Bahá'í Faith in 1977, served as Secretary of the American Indian Teaching Committee and then Secretary of the National Teaching Committee. Next came three terms as a member of the Continental Board of Counsellors for the Americas and a circumpolar development assignment. She was a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States from 2001 to 2022.
She retired in 2021 from her work as Administrative Officer for a Health Board that serves the 43 federally recognized Tribes in the US Northwest. Jacqueline now spends time writing and with her family.
