The Sacredness of Language

Athena Cholas is of Pueblo Indian heritage along with Greek, Czech, and Spanish. She has experienced tropical life, first in Puerto Rico, then Belize, Hawaii, and American Samoa.

After living six years in California, she returned to her native New Mexico to work as a natural resource conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. As part of her work in regenerative agriculture, she is learning how traditional Indigenous knowledge can bring healing to land and people.

She is a mom to four children, who starting this year will all be adults.
